The primary focus
of the February 2008 trip was to implement Vista Imaging and
Document Capture and Display. This functionality will allow
documents to be scanned into the computer and associated with the
electronic medical record for the patient. In addition, Care
Providers will be able to see documents from off-site treatment.
These documents include Lab Tests, Radiology Reports, and
Progress Notes as well as consent forms with signatures.
Included with this
new functionality is the ability to capture other image type files:
jpg's, avi's, tiff's, and pdf's.
The other goal of
the trip was to split the Production Account into 2 databases, which
will double the capacity for LBJ and allow them to continue to
expand their use of the EMR. This is timely, as the database is
nearing the maximum 16 gigabyte limit imposed by the Cache Operating
System
